Applications will be available on-line at the school’s website: www.isl-edu.org and at either of the current ISL campuses beginning February 1, 2012. Completed applications should be mailed to ISL’s admissions department at 502 Olivier Street, NOLA 70114. Application can also be dropped off during the application period at an existing ISL campus from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. • There will be over 20,000 people walking by your booth with spending $$$ on their mind…. make your booth attractive!
• Make sure you have plenty of business cards and a clip board/list to gather customers contact information
• If you have a TV commercial bring it on a disc to play on a laptop
• If you are a Nola Marketplace participant, make DVD copies of your 3-minute segment to pass out
• Print your QR Code on any promotional materials that you have
• Update your Facebook pages and let people know you are going to be at the Expo at Lakeside
• You are 1 of 75 of our local businesses with booths, make friends and network with other companies

NAWBO New Orleans will host their second annual gathering of business and professional women to recognize the major economic impact of their contributions in the Greater New Orleans area.

Since its inception, the EJGH Golf Classic has raised over $500,000 to support programs and services at EJGH, including diagnostic and treatment equipment, patient education, community wellness programs, and nursing scholarships.
The proceeds from the 2012 Golf Classic, unless otherwise requested by a sponsor, will be designated to help fund the building of an expanded and modernized Outpatient Oncology Infusion Center.

The new Infusion Center will be state-of-the-art, expand  service capability, and provide patients and their families with a healing and comforting environment in which to receive their cancer treatment.

Next week, FEMA will send letters to 90,000 affected individuals and households informing them they may be eligible for a waiver. These individuals and households must then respond to FEMA within 60 days to request a waiver and certify that they meet the criteria, including need, household income and appropriate use of funds.

Sen. Landrieu successfully included a provision, authored by Sen. Pryor, in the year-end federal spending bill that allows the FEMA Administrator to waive a debt owed to the federal government if the individual earns less than $90,000 and was given assistance due to FEMA error.  Previously, FEMA did not have the authority to waive any overpayment debt. This provision prohibits the administrator from waiving any debt that involves fraud. It was based on the Disaster Assistance Recoupment Fairness Act (DARFA), which was authored by Sen. Pryor and cosponsored by Sens. Landrieu and Cochran.

“I commend FEMA for moving swiftly and aggressively to implement a plan that will allow eligible disaster victims to apply for a refund or cancellation of their debt. This announcement will bring great relief to many honest disaster survivors who never intended to misuse funds or take anything to which they were not entitled. To have forced people who experienced great tragedy to pay large sums of money back to the government because of someone else’s mistake would have been incredibly unfair,” Sen. Landrieu said.  “I look forward to continuing to work with Senators Pryor and Cochran, as well as FEMA, to ensure that disaster survivors are treated fairly as they continue to rebuild.”

“FEMA’s mission is to bring relief to families in times of great need, not to create more problems for them,” Sen. Pryor said. “I was proud to help right this wrong for disaster victims, and I’m pleased FEMA is now working swiftly to implement the law.  We need to alleviate this unfair financial hardship so families can focus on rebuilding their lives.”

“I appreciate FEMA acting expeditiously to determine how to waive some debts in cases where the federal government erroneously distributed funds during the most severe disasters.  The 2005 hurricane season was unprecedented in terms of the damage and chaos it caused along the Gulf Coast, but its magnitude also overwhelmed our government’s systems for distributing aid.  It simply doesn’t make sense for the government to come knocking on the doors of struggling American families, sometimes more than six years after it mistakenly provided aid, and demand the assistance be repaid,” Sen. Cochran said.

The Bright Futures Festival BBQ Cook-off is a charitable event that will benefit Café Hope. The purpose is to raise funds to help sustain our program and the youth in our community that we serve every day. This will be a family friendly event with Music, BBQ, Activities for Kids and more. We will sell wristbands to the public for $25 that will allow our guests to sample food tastings from various vendors in the competition. Beverages will be sold separately by Café Hope. This is a friendly amateur BBQ competition with awards presented to top category finishes. Café Hope will provide two 8 foot tables and 10 feet of frontage for vendor space but the rest is up to teams to set-up; this is an opportunity to be creative!
