Improving Business, Improving Lives

Live at Lafreniere

Every Thursday from September 15 – October 20, 2011, Lafreniere Park was filled with families coming together to experience great live music, local food, and so much more.

Live at Lafreniere, a free six-week sunset concert series held at the beautiful Lafreniere Park island pavilion, brought an average attendance of 2,000 people every night.

The first of many more, Live at Lafreniere featured performances by the Bucktown Allstars, Yat Pack, Amanda Shaw, Chee-Weez, Category 6, and Rockin’ Dopsie.

The concerts are part of an initiative to attract attention to the qualities that Jefferson Parish has to offer and to celebrate the emerging leaders who are proudly serving the community. This series was the first community project of JCEL (Jefferson Coalition of Emerging Leaders), a committee of the Jefferson Chamber.

The mission of JCEL is to cultivate future civic and economic leaders of Jefferson Parish and the surrounding community through philanthropic initiatives, education, and leadership development opportunities.

The Jefferson Chamber of Commerce launched JCEL as a new program recognizing the need to retain young professionals in order to sustain a vibrant, growing community. The Chamber’s mission has remained constant; to work for the advancement of the business community; to enhance the economic, civic and cultural environment; and to improve the quality of life in Jefferson Parish.
