Graduates of Leadership Jefferson populate various civic, non-profit and governmental bodies: judgeship, parish president, board chairmen, board members, etc. Closing Retreat is a day-and-a-half long process that helps participants share their perspectives on what was learned during the monthly sessions, and to begin thinking about opportunities to improve life in Jefferson Parish. “Public Life” skills are learned throughout the year, and each participant then identifies issues they are most passionate about. The class is offered options for involvement in existing non-profit and civic organizations who are currently working in each area. The weekend concludes with a commitment from each participant to be more active in the community and to maintain the relationships formed during the program. The graduates are then sent out into the community to work with others throughout Jefferson Parish and the region.
