Harvey, LA- The Louisiana Department of Education announced yesterday morning that plans for a second Jefferson Chamber Foundation Academy campus in Metairie will be sent to the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) for final approval.
The Jefferson Chamber Foundation Academy (JCFA) is currently located in Harvey. The school targets at-risk students and offers them an opportunity to work at their own pace on Carnegie Credit courses to earn their high school diploma while having access to dual enrollment career skills courses through Delgado Community and Technical College. JCFA is the country’s first charter school to be run by a Chamber of Commerce and has graduated over 60 students that were considered to be potential drop-outs since opening in 2010.
The BESE vote will take place next week and will be the last step in the approval process for JCFA.
