(Metairie, La) – On Thursday, March 21 at Ochsner Medical Center’s Brent House Hotel, experts from the health care, law, tax and insurance industries will lead a discussion on how businesses will be affected by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
The experts are:
- Michael Bertaut, Healthcare Economist, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana.
- Charles F. Castille, Attorney, Adams and Reese, LLP.
- Philip Rebowe, Partner-In-Charge, Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC, CPA’s and Advisors.
- Carol Solomon, Chief Executive Officer, Peoples Health.
Following this initial session, a series of “break-out sessions” will convene at
West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero and East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie. The break-outs are designed to spend more time on specific parts of the PPACA including a detailed review of the legal, accounting and tax implications, individual and small group plans and large employer plans and coverage.
The Chamber is urging businesses to attend to start planning ahead as major provisions of the legislation that impact employers, will take effect in 2014.
These programs are a service to the business community from the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. To register for this event and the following sessions, please CLICK HERE or call (504) 835-3880. Cost is free for members of the Jefferson Chamber and $25 general admission.
The PPACA adds a new section to the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, which places a mandate on employers to offer health coverage to their employees. Depending on whether you are self-employed, an employer with fewer than 25 employees, an employer with fewer than 50 employees, or an employer with 50 or more employees, different provisions of the law may apply to you.
The Chamber would like to thank the following sponsors for making these programs successful: Coventry Health Care of Louisiana, Inc., Delta Administrative Services, Peoples Health, Ochsner Medical Center, West Jefferson Medical Center and East Jefferson General Hospital.
