The applications deadline for Leadership Jefferson is right around the corner on June 30. We are very excited for Chamber members to have the opportunity to become a part of such a great learning program! Leadership in our businesses and communities is very important, but do we know what being a leader actually means?
Leadership establishes the way things will be conducted within an association. The short and long-term objectives will originate from the leader of that organization. Leadership is not becoming involved with every one of the details, but instead setting the plan and motivating others to follow that plan.
The roles of a leader are ever-changing and will always depend on the task at hand, ranging from formal to informal roles. With this being said, a leader will require a particular set of skills that allows for the correct response to various types of situations. These characteristics are:
- Having key focus on the needs of the organization
- Being able to establish specific principles
- The ability to identify risks and assess them properly
- Keeping long term & high level focus
- Setting goals related to specific demands
- Being the main motivational system of that organization
After knowing what leadership is all about, you may ask yourself: “What is the importance of leadership?” Through effective leadership, all employees can feel satisfied that they have a leader that is able to guide them and the organization towards success. A true leader will motivate and push others to achieving every aspect of expectations within that organization. By motivating others, others will gain a sense of loyalty to that leader. This level of loyalty is almost impossible to attain without a well-rounded leader.
All of these qualities and characteristics are vital to the success of any business or community. The Leadership Jefferson program will immerse you into the education behind many more aspects of leadership, along with education you on topics such as: healthcare, governance, community involvement, and much more. The interactive workshops at this program expose participants to local leaders and activists working to resolve critical issues facing Jefferson Parish.
Submit your application for Leadership Jefferson no later than June 30 to be considered for the Class of 2020!
