The Jefferson Chamber of Commerce hosted its Annual Meeting luncheon Jan. 26 at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans Airport Hotel. The sold-out event featured James Carville, renowned political strategist and commentator, who discussed the state of politics in America and the future ahead.
Speaking to a room of Chamber members, business owners and community leaders, Carville discussed national political trends and how they impact local communities.
Infusing Louisiana jokes, Carville asked business leaders to adapt their politics the way they adapt their businesses – to the changing realities in the world. He pressed to the audience to push politicians when you think they are wrong, but give them credit when you know they are right.
“We give 100 percent of the blame to politicians when things go wrong and none of the credit when they go right,” said Carville.
The Jefferson Chamber also announced the recipients of the 2015 Chamber Volunteer Awards.
Ambassador of the Year: Chuck Mutz, Level 3 Communication
Board Member of the Year: Bob Hecker, Uniformity LLC
Chairman’s Award: Frances Roemer, F.H. Myers Construction, Inc.

In addition, the Annual Meeting serves as the change in chamber leadership and culmination. The 2015 Shairman, Todd Matherne, passed the gavel to Mike Palamone, 2016 Chairman.
