Eric B. Lewis, State Director for the Louisiana Black Alliance for Educational Options (LaBAEO) will join the Jefferson Chamber Education Committee meeting today at 4:00 p.m. at Peoples Health, Three Lakeway Center, 3838 N. Causeway Blvd., Suite 2200 in Metairie.
LaBAEO is a mobilization initiative of the BAEO based in Washington, DC. As state director, Eric is responsible for building statewide support for expanding parental choice options for educating low-income black children in Louisiana. Prior to his role with BAEO, Eric helped to launch Sable International for which he is a Managing Partner and previously served as Director of Business Development.
Eric has more than a decade of experience in product development, process improvement, and customer relations. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, he worked in some of the country’s leading companies, such as Bechtel, Texas Instruments, Raytheon, and McKesson.
As a strong community advocate in Baton Rouge, he currently serves as the Board President of the Baton Rouge Black Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the Chamber, Eric currently or previously served on the board of several other local organizations, including the Dean’s Advisory Council for LSU’s E.J. Ourso College of Business, Advisory Board of YWCA, Advisory Board of Desire Street Academy, Riz-Up Louisiana, Forum 35 and the Baton Rouge Branch of the NAACP. He is also a deacon at the Way of Holiness Ministries in Jackson and Baton Rouge, LA.
