November 10, 2015 was one of the most memorable Leadership Jefferson sessions to date. The morning began with Donna Austin, Leadership Jefferson alumni and Peoples Health’s Director of Decision Support welcoming the group to their second session of the year.
The session host, West Jefferson Medical Center, graciously set up fun and exciting building tours, including a 15 minute yoga practice! Participants took to the mats to de-stress before the holiday season.
The most interesting speakers were Ms. Molly Kimball, RD, CSSD, Nutrition Expert and Dr. Donisha Dunn-Lombard, M.D. Both speakers engaged participants while covering nutrition and the state of mental health service in Jefferson Parish.
A new first for the class and Leadership Jefferson was a sobering discussion on food poverty and food insecurity in Louisiana. The Second Harvest Food Bank participated in this closing discussion and a charge was put out by Dr. Shondra Williams, CEO of Jefferson Community Health Care Centers, Inc. and upheld by Leadership Jefferson alumni Karl Weber that the group come together for a service project slated to take place in January 2016).
Thank you WJMC and all speakers for making this session such a success!
