The Jefferson Chamber’s Incredibowl Tournament is coming up next Wednesday, August 28. With more than 300 attendees, this new event is a great way to network and make connections. While it’s exciting that there will be so many people to meet, it will be tricky to remember everyone’s names! Use these helpful tips while networking to remember who is who.
1.Associate
Try to make an association between the name and an image the name suggests. For instance, Christy begins with a “Ch”, and Christy works at the Chamber, so Christy = Chamber!
2. Repeat
Repeat the name silently to yourself after the person introduces themself. Then, use it casually in conversation, or comment on it (i.e. “My sister’s name is x!”).
3. Spell it out
It’s helpful to ask a person to spell out their name, especially if it is an unusual or uncommon name. This extra step will help ingrain the name in your memory. If their name is not hard to spell (i.e. Bob) ask for their business card; that way, you’ll see and hear the name, and have their card on hand to refresh your memory.
We hope these tips will help you while you are networking at the Incredibowl or any of the upcoming Chamber events! If you haven’t registered already, we have Spectator Passes still available for the Incredibowl! Register HERE.
