The United States Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Jefferson Chamber with 5-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community.
“These local chambers are an essential part of the business community’s efforts to promote economic growth and job creation across the country,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, U.S. Chamber vice president of Federation Relations and Institute for Organization Management. “This designation recognizes the positive impact these organizations have had within their communities, and it honors their commitment to continuing to serve local businesses.”
Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review took nine months to complete.
“I think this designation exemplifies the commitment of our professional staff and dedicated volunteers to deliver excellent programs and strong governance, while being member centric and the authentic voice of those members,” said Todd Murphy, President of the Jefferson Chamber.
Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Stars, 4-Stars, or 5-Stars. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members and then approved by the Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber. The Jefferson Chamber is proud of its 5-Star designation making it only the 116th chamber in the United States to achieve this status (out of 7000 organizations). 2018 Board Chairman, Nick Karl of Peoples Health, commented “What an incredible honor for such a young chamber to be recognized for its leadership in advocating, educating, and connecting business.”
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
The mission of the Jefferson Chamber is to work for the advancement of the business community, to enhance the economic, civic and cultural environment and to improve the quality of life in Jefferson Parish.
Improving Business, Improving Lives.
